When summer comes around, making sure your home reflects your playful side is important. This is the time of year when breezy fabrics and plenty of light and color are befitting of the warmer weather. If you are looking for a few easy ways to make sure your home is ready to go for this season’s festivities, then here are some summer home tips that can make your whole house feel ready for the season

Start with the Windows

Windows are a great place to begin when updating your home for warmer weather. You can start off by taking off old storm windows and putting up the screens. If any of them are torn, this is the perfect time to replace them. This will give you a wonderful breeze, allow lots of fresh air in your home, and keep all of the bugs outside where they belong. When your screens are up, you can then address your window treatments. If you have any heavy or dark shades, now is the time to take those down and put up sheers wherever you can. This allows more air flow and gives a lighter look to the room they are in.

Fabrics Can Make a Huge Difference

Speaking of fabrics, you can also take a look around the different spaces of your home. Take out old, heavy blankets and dark pillows, and bring in lighter throws and a few brightly colored pillows to take their place. This can rejuvenate your room, and bring in a summery feel, all at the same time. It doesn’t have to cost a lot to bring your home from dark and dreary to bright and summery – it just takes a little bit of ingenuity.

What About Your Floors?

Have you ever looked down at your floors and wondered what you can do to spruce those up? Try this. Instead of having dark, heavy rugs in front of your stove or as your welcome mat, consider opting for something like a rattan rug. They look nice, bring in an island feel, and make your floors look great, all at the same time. Plants are also great to have around at home, and using those same rattan rugs can be a great way to keep the floor under your plant safe and clean. Take a big planter and add a Ficus tree to it, and place it in a pronounced location in your living room. The greenery will help your home get ready for the summer, just like you!

Bringing your home into the summer season does not take a lot of time or a lot of money, but it does take a bit of creativity. Adding in some new colors, textures, and fabrics can go a really long way when it comes to making your home ready for this fun new season. Look at all aspects of your room, and make little changes. After a few little changes with these easy summer home tips, your room is going to look and feel like a whole new room, just in time to relax in the warm breezes of summertime.
